Comments:
I purchased this product on a recent trip to Cleveland at the Eagle store for $24.95. I can understand why it is on sale at half price - It simply does a very poor job of holding the wood. Slippery plastic holders. This tool is now in my junk bin.

Comments:
I bought one of these a while back, and while I was unimpressed at first, I have made a few easy modifications that make this a very useable tool.
I had issues with it holding the wood tightly, as the plastic isn't very "grippy". I used some 100 grit PSA sandpaper and lined the jaws, that helped immensely and allowed me to hold stock safely.
I also filed 2 opposing flats on the tightening knob so I could use an adjustable wrench to tighten the jaws, this also helped, but you do need to be cautious not to go too tight, as I think you could break it that way.
I also did the same to the knobs that tighten the aluminum "fence" and hold it at an angle, as I didn't like them only finger tight with such small knobs.
Now this tool sees frequent use, and I have ordered a second as well. I make a lot of inlay banding and geometric inlays, and often cut and handle small pieces. This really helps keep me safe.
The company should really read this and improve it in the ways I describe, it would make this a very valuable tool to many others who don't feel they should need to modify something to make it work as described.
