Make your pattern out of 1/4" thick material. Secure pattern to the material you wish to inlay with double face tape. Install special bushing and collar on your screw mount router base. Using a spiral bit, follow pattern to produce the "female" cut. Remove collar and follow your pattern again, this time cutting out the matching "male" inlay piece from selected second material. A perfect fit! It's easy.

Kit includes: universal bushing with retainer nut and snap on brass collar, plus a 1/8" down-cut solid carbide spiral bit. Near Perfect Inlays

Comments: My daughter bought me this kit as a gift. The first time I used it, I had some problems that I later learned were caused by misalignment of the bushings in my router's base. Using a centering pin quickly cured that. Once everything was properly concentric, it produced lovely, sharp edged inlays. A centering pin is definitely recommended.
